Pomaa Arthur
Pomaa Arthur is a Registered Clinical Counsellor (#23768) with a Master of Education in Counselling.
With over a decade of counselling experience, I support youth, teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, grief and loss, trauma, relationship challenges, questions of identity or spirituality, and the many transitions that shape our lives.
Many people seek counselling when life feels heavy, confusing, or difficult to navigate on their own. In our work together, I walk alongside you as we explore these experiences, helping you make sense of your emotions, your history, and the patterns that may be shaping how you move through the world.
Through this process, you may begin to understand yourself more deeply, recognize patterns that no longer serve you, and move toward the changes you want to create in your life.
I recognize that many struggles are connected to the experiences, relationships, and environments that have shaped how we see ourselves and the world. Counselling offers a space to explore these experiences with curiosity and compassion, creating opportunities for insight, healing, and growth.
I also support individuals and families navigating cultural transitions, immigration experiences, and questions of identity and belonging. Adjusting to new environments or balancing different cultural expectations can be challenging, and counselling can provide a space to explore these experiences with openness and respect.
Clients often tell me they appreciate my calm, thoughtful, and genuine presence in session. I bring authenticity, honesty, kindness, and curiosity into the counselling space so people feel safe to speak openly about their experiences.

What you can expect from working with me
I approach counselling as a collaborative and relational process. Meaningful change often happens when people feel emotionally safe, understood, and supported within a trusting therapeutic relationship.
I believe it is important to see clients beyond the problems that bring them to counselling. My work focuses on understanding the whole person, including your experiences, strengths, values, and the broader context of your life.
Rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach, I adapt my work to meet the needs of each individual, couple, or family. My therapeutic approach is guided by what feels most helpful and relevant for the person/people in the room.
Our work together may involve:
- Exploring how past experiences shape present thoughts and relationships
- Understanding patterns and triggers that influence reactions and behaviours
- Processing difficult experiences in a supportive environment
- Strengthening communication within couples and families
- Reconnecting with personal strengths and developing new ways of responding to challenges
Through reflection, insight, and practical strategies, I support clients as they develop greater self-awareness and move toward the changes they want to create in their lives.
Therapeutic approaches
I take an integrative approach to counselling, drawing from a range of evidence-based and insight-oriented frameworks depending on each client’s needs.
My work is informed by:
- Internal Family Systems (IFS)
- Attachment-informed therapy
- Narrative Therapy
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
- Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
- Family Systems Therapy
- Trauma-Informed Care
- Person-Centered Therapy
My work is also influenced by psychodynamic and depth-oriented perspectives, which explore how early relationships and life experiences shape current patterns and ways of relating. Part of this work involves bringing unconscious patterns into awareness so that you can better understand yourself and make more intentional choices moving forward.
My philosophy of counselling
I believe every person carries a unique story shaped by their experiences, relationships, culture, and environment.
I also believe that many struggles are difficult to work through alone. Sometimes we need another person to listen, reflect what they see, and help us notice patterns we may not yet recognize ourselves.
Reaching out for support does not mean you are weak or that you have failed. Often, it simply means you are human and ready to care for yourself in a different way.
My role is to walk alongside you with honesty, compassion, and curiosity as you develop deeper self-understanding and move toward the changes you want to create in your life.
Is counselling with me the right fit for you?
You may find my approach helpful if you are looking for support navigating life’s challenges, making sense of your experiences, or developing a deeper understanding of yourself.
My approach may resonate with you if you:
- Want to better understand yourself and the patterns in your life
- Feel overwhelmed by emotions or life circumstances
- Are navigating relationship challenges or family dynamics
- Are exploring questions of identity, belonging, spirituality, or direction
- Value a counselling space that feels safe, thoughtful, warm, and collaborative
Counselling is a deeply personal process, and finding the right fit matters. I welcome conversations with individuals, couples, and families who are ready to begin exploring their experiences and creating meaningful change.
